The Oregon Ducks baseball team beat the Seattle Redhawks 14-7 at PK Park, closing out a four-game sweep for the Ducks. After trailing through the first four innings, Oregon’s bats came alive in the 5th and 6th innings to bring the Ducks ahead.
Although he conceded four runs, Oregon got good innings out of starting pitcher Kevin Seitter. In six and two-thirds innings, Seitter struck out eight batters and gave up nine hits. Seattle’s starter, Luke Alwood, lasted just 4.2 innings, allowing six hits and earning four runs.
In the top of the 8th inning, it looked like Seattle might make a comeback, scoring three runs to make the score 7-8. But in the bottom of the inning, the Redhawks’ pitchers struggled to find the zone, walking three batters and hitting two in the eighth inning, helping the Ducks increase their lead. In the 9th, Oregon’s Bradley Mullan closed out the Redhawks, giving the Ducks the win.
Offensively, the entire Oregon batting order was firing. Every Ducks hitter reached base at least once, and eight of the nine picked up base hits. Oregon was led by left fielder Mason Neville, who finished with four RBIs and a homer, as well as catcher Chase Meggers and shortstop Maddox Molony who each drove in three.
Oregon’s next matchup is on Tuesday, April 2nd, against Portland for a one-off game. Earlier this season, Portland walloped the Ducks 15-5 at PK Park, so Oregon will be looking to do some damage when they head up to Portland.
