Oregon at California: Three things to know

  1. Oregon was stunned in its rivalry game last week at Oregon State, falling 41-38 as 13-point favorites. It was their first loss of the season. The offense hasn’t been an issue, as they have scored 35 or more points in each of their four games, averaging 38.5 PPG overall.
  2. The Ducks are averaging 491.8 total yards per game to rank 14th in the nation while rolling up 289.5 passing yards per game to check in 23rd in the country. Defensively, Oregon is allowing 208.3 rushing yards per game, and 29.8 PPG to rank 72nd overall.
  3. Cal has dropped each of its three games to date, although the previous two have been one-score affairs. That includes a 24-23 loss in ‘The Game’ against rival Stanford last week, as they grabbed a push. The Under has connected in two of three for Cal so far, including its only home game to date.

Oregon at California: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Oregon 45, California 20

Money line (ML)

Oregon (-358) will cost you more than three and a half times your potential return, and that’s just not a good long-term strategy. AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread (ATS)

OREGON -9.5 (-115) is a great play on the road, especially if this number is able to stay in the single digits. The Ducks are 6-2 ATS in the past eight following an ATS loss, and they’re 5-2 ATS in the previous seven as a road favorite.

California +9.5 (-106) is a dismal 1-6-1 ATS in the past eight at home, and they’re just 2-7 ATS in the past nine tries against Oregon.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 58.5 (-106) is also a strong play, as the Over has connected in each of the past four meetings in Berkeley. The total has gone Over in each of the past five road contests for Oregon, and the Over is 7-3 in Oregon’s last 10 games. The Ducks have a good chance of coming close to the Over themselves in this game, as they’re angry following their first loss of the season.
