According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, there is apparently growing optimism among team executives, players and agents that the 2019-20 NBA season can be salvaged in some form.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said on April 6 that a decision on the future of the season would not be made prior to May 1 but cautioned the league still may not be in the position to make a determination at that date, either. Silver said the league is considering all options for resuming play.

The NBA will hold its Board of Governors meeting virtually on Friday, with the annual meeting serving as an avenue for team representatives to float ideas around on how the league can resume play. According to Amick, players around the NBA are in favor of being quarantined and playing games in a neutral location, such as Las Vegas, to finish out the season.

By all accounts, Las Vegas appears to remain as the leader in the NBA’s quarantine clubhouse. The combination of hotel space, hoops facilities and the rough blueprint that was built from all those summer leagues past is an interesting option, with all the teams staying under one sanitized roof. You also hear other scenarios in which teams might wind up playing in various locations.

The idea of playing in a neutral city in other sports like MLB has been met with some criticism since players would be quarantined for the entire baseball season. The NBA has already completed nearly 80% of the 2019-20 season so players are receptive to the idea since they would only be in a neutral city for a few months.

Of course, the possibilities are seemingly endless for how the NBA can resume its season but it is certain those in charge are looking at every option for opening back up.
