Opinion: Drake Maye shouldn’t have had to apologize

If you were offended by what North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye said this week, I bet you’re a ton of fun at parties.

Do we still have a long way to come as a society?

No doubt.  It doesn’t take but opening a newspaper or clicking a couple of times on your computer to see the issues we have in regards to how we treat one another.  I’m not arguing that in any capacity but in order to help address those actual issues can we as a collective not waste an ounce of energy on something as harmless and actually somewhat funny of a comment like this?

Here is what I know:

What Maye said will be said by literally countless college football fans this weekend in regards to their opponents or biggest rivals and aside of some friendly comebacks, nobody will bat an eye.

What I also know is that if you are actually offended by what Maye dared to say about his in-state rival is that all I can do is hope you find the help that you so clearly need.

And that I bet you are a whole lot of fun to be around at parties.
