Opening lines see Penn State favored against Auburn in Week 3

Penn State has been labeled an early favorite this week against Auburn. Here are all the latest odds for the big game.

One of the most intriguing non-conference games in years for Penn State is set to go down this Saturday night in Beaver Stadium. It’s not often Penn State gets a chance to host another power conference opponent in Happy Valley, especially out of the SEC, but the Auburn Tigers are making their way up for a rare trip north. And despite the tigers rolling up plenty of points in the first two games of the season, it is Penn State that is being marked as the favorite this week.

According to Week 3 lines released by Tipico Sportsbook, Penn State is favored by five and a half points this week against Auburn. We will certainly be keeping an eye on this spread throughout the week, but it’s not a very surprising line.

Here are the odds from Tipico Sportsbook as the week gets underway:

  • Penn State -5.5 (-110)
  • Auburn +5.5 (-105)
  • Penn State moneyline: +340
  • Auburn moneyline: -475
  • Over/under: 57.5 (-110)

Auburn’s offense has been off to an absolutely explosive start, but it has gone up against Akron and Alabama State. Penn State’s offense took a while to get going against a good Wisconsin defense on the road but looked much more confident at the start of their Week 2 matchup with Ball State. But the Penn State defense is what is expected to slow Auburn down significantly this week. The Nittany Lions will be put to another solid test by Auburn, but the home crowd energy and defense should help give Penn State an edge.

Penn State hosts Auburn for a nationally televised primetime game this week with a full Beaver Stadium whiteout in effect. ESPN will also be broadcasting from State College for College GameDay.
