There big expectations for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray in 2020. He had a fantastic rookie season in 2019, passing for more 3,500 yards and rushing for over 500 yards. And with the second-year explosion of Patrick Mahomes in 2018 and Lamar Jackson in 2019, many believe Murray will have a similar ascension to stardom in 2020.
As a result, he is in the mix for the Offensive Player of the Year award, at least on odds by BetMGM.
Murray is given +2500 odds (or 25/1) to win the award, tied with three other players.
Only seven players are given shorter odds.
The favorites are Mahomes at +700, Jackson at +800, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey at +1300, New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley at +1500, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and New Orleans Saints receiver at +1700, and finally Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry at +2000.
Murray has the same odds at +2500 as Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Murray isn’t a bad bet. The Cardinals offense should be better with a full season of running back Kenyan Drake and the addition of receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Passing for 4,000 yards and approaching 1,000 rushing yards isn’t a crazy possibility. Add in a defense who should actually get the ball back to the offense, the Cardinals and Murray have a possibility to put up big numbers.
