Cody Williams, the first-ever one-and-done player in Colorado men’s basketball history, was selected by the Utah Jazz during the first round of the 2024 NBA draft on Wednesday evening.
With Williams on hand at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Utah dedicated its 10th overall pick to the 19-year-old forward from Arizona.
The former five-star prospect becomes the fourth-ever former Buff selected in the first round. Derrick White, who recently helped the Boston Celtics to an NBA championship, was Colorado’s last first-rounder, going 29th overall to the San Antonio Spurs in 2017.
During his lone season with the Buffs, Williams played in only 24 games (19 starts) while fighting through multiple injuries. He finished the year averaging 11.9 points (55.2% field goal shooting), 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 points per game.
Williams’ older brother, Jalen, was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft.
The Jazz finished 31-51 last season under head coach Will Hardy.

As of this writing, fellow former Buffs Tristan da Silva and KJ Simpson have yet to be selected in the NBA draft.
