One marker of a successful NFL season for Caleb Williams with the Bears

If Caleb Williams throws for a specific number of touchdowns in 2024, you will be able to tell whether the Bears will rise or fall.

Realistic expectations for Caleb Williams’ first season with the Bears will vary from one analyst to another. On NFL Live, Sam Acho, Jeff Darlington and Louis Riddick discuss expectations for Caleb Williams’ first season with the Chicago Bears.

Williams has been patient and has absorbed information quickly in OTAs and minicamp.

“I would say the learning,” coach Matt Eberflus said of the thing that most impressed him about Williams. “Having a beginner’s mindset to be able to learn, absorb, ask questions and just keep learning. That’s what’s been impressive to me. If he does that, he’ll be just fine.”

Williams will hope to continue to grow and develop into the franchise quarterback Chicago has been desperately searching for. Heading into the 2024 season, he has enough offensive talent surrounding him to make that a reality.

Here’s one marker of a successful 2024 NFL season for Caleb Williams, per Bears Wire, which picked up a set of predictions from NFL analyst Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated:

Peyton Manning threw 26 during his rookie season in 1998 (along with, many forget, 28 interceptions). Should Williams throw 28 picks, I would imagine the entirety of the Chicago Bears’ building would be cleaned out. How times have changed. Anyway, Williams has a great weapon set at his disposal and an offensive coordinator in Shane Waldron who really came into his own after the departure of Russell Wilson from Seattle.

If Caleb Williams does throw for 26 touchdowns in 2024, the Bears should be very happy.
