One LSU transfer among the top 25, just not who you think

We have reached transfer portal ranking season…

We have the first 2022 transfer portal rankings as the 2021 campaign winds down. Plenty of LSU Tigers have put their name in the portal, which gives them plenty of former Bayou Bengals to rank. 247Sports has just one LSU player and it isn’t who you think.

As 247Sports noted, this list could look different once they have a grade on Eli Ricks.

The morning of publication of 247Sports’ Initial Top 25 transfer rankings, it was reported that LSU cornerback Eli Ricks would enter the portal. Once Ricks officially enters the portal and is assigned his rating, it’s very likely he jumps to the top.

No. 8: Myles Brennan, Quarterback

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Brennan was expected to be in the running for the starting quarterback job with Max Johnson during fall camp. Unfortunately, the injury bug struck again and ended his season. With the uncertainty of his future in Baton Rouge, the former four-star signee in 2017 decided to take his talents to the transfer portal. He likely will get an opportunity somewhere else and he has shown the talent to sling it all over the field. I just hope he can stay healthy long enough to increase his chances of getting on an NFL roster.

What 247Sports Says…

The top quarterback in the portal, Brennan has valuable experience as a starter and did some nice things while at the helm in Baton Rouge. He processes defenses and gets the ball out with accuracy and touch although he doesn’t have a really big arm. Brennan brings a veteran mindset and approach to the position as a player that can help a program right away. As a starter in three games in 2020, he threw 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
