It’s a back-to-back win for “Binge Mode.”
The Ringer podcast, which dives deeply into popular TV and movie series, ran the table again, beating The Pat McAfee Show in a final that saw over 100,000 votes cast.
“Binge Mode” also won the bracket last year, which makes the selection committee’s decision to give them a 3-seed even more flabbergasting. When asked about it, the committee chairman, who is me, could only offer up again the explanation that he forgot about “Binge Mode” when first making the bracket and then was too lazy to go back and change the first two seeds in the Culture/Comedy region.
It was an oversight, but one that fueled “Binge Mode” to give a nobody-believes-in-us performance for the ages and take their second consecutive win in the annual contest.
The hosts did their part to rally their fans:
Binge Heads! Our title defense is on the line and our lead is dwindling! Let's do this! For the Binge! https://t.co/YZEGEXwhvI pic.twitter.com/tX2o1eP4Td
