The hype around the LSU/Florida State matchup continues to grow every day. I understand it because it should be one of the best games during week one of the college football season.
What I don’t understand, is the game being labeled a “must-win” game for both teams. As we all remember, LSU lost to Florida State in New Orleans to open its 2022 campaign. Even with that loss, LSU was a win over Texas A&M and Georgia away from playing in the College Football Playoff.
Would it hurt the confidence of the team? Sure, but it would not be the end of the world.
“That game was exciting but I think this game will be played at a much higher level,” said On3’s Ira Schoffel. “There’s much more stakes on the line. It feels kind of like a make-or-break game for both teams. It would be such a huge win for each.”
LSU will kick off the 2023 season against Florida State on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
