In honor of the Fourth of July, On3’s J.D. PicKell named some SEC players “fireworks” for their team. [autotag]Harold Perkins[/autotag] was named the firework for LSU.
As a freshman last fall, Perkins played in 14 games and started in eight of them. He recorded 72 tackles, including 13 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and an interception.
His best game of the season was in the SEC Championship game against Georgia. Perkins finished that game with 10 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble. Those stats earned him the accolades of first-team All-SEC, SEC All-Freshman and FWAA Freshman All-American.
“Harold Perkins is a firework player. He is must-see TV every single time he laces him up,” Pickell said. “That Arkansas game is probably what sticks out in our minds most clearly. Three sacks, two forced fumbles — he just took over that game. LSU’s scratching and clawing to get out of a game in Fayetteville with a win, and Harold Perkins, the freshman, is spying Malik Hornsby all day long and won them that football game.”
It will be hard to top how great he was last season, but I can’t wait to see what Perkins does this fall.
