On Thursday the University of Texas held their Pro Day. One of the players who went through testing was EDGE Joseph Ossai. His effort was remarkable. Ossai posted some incredible numbers, including a 41.5″ vertical leap and a 10’11” broad jump.
Now as luck would have it, just as Ossai was posting those numbers I was finishing my own film evaluation of the Texas defender. That put me in a perfect position to answer this question:
Does that burst and explosiveness translate to his film?
In this breakdown we’ll dive into that question and highlight what he does well, where he really needs to improve, and what it can look like if it all comes together.

For more on this part of his game I would strongly recommend a similar examination conducted by Benjamin Solak, who also dove into Ossai’s game after his testing numbers:
WE'RE BA-A-AAAACK
Texas EDGE Joseph Ossai had a 41.5" VERT and 10'11" BROAD at his Pro Day today. INSANE numbers!

Ultimately, Ossai’s room for growth might make him attractive to NFL teams. His explosiveness and testing — when combined with some refinement to his game — could make him a great pick in the 2021 NFL draft.
And a great pro as well, which is ultimately the goal.
