It looks like the Cowboys’ 53-man roster is going to be heavily skewed towards the defense when the final cuts come in a couple weeks. Dallas has a lot of depth behind a crew of young stars, so much so that spots aren’t assured for many players who can absolutely play in the league. Trysten Hill, a former second-round pick from from the prior era, is considered one of the defensive tackles on the roster bubble.
Whether he’s making plays for this staff or catching the eye of another, he made a surreal play against the Chargers. Right after KaVontae Turpin scored his second return TD of the first half, Hill took to center stage with the ultimate trifecta. He sacked the quarterback, stripped the ball and recovered it himself to give the Cowboys’ offense the ball back.
The Cowboys led league with 26 INTs last year. But Dan Quinn wants his guys to force far more fumbles than last year’s 8.

Hill was drafted in 2019, the year the team traded a first-round pick for WR Amari Cooper. Injuries have derailed his progress but he’s shown flashes throughout that he could eventually emerge. He’s in a competition with players such as Carlos Watkins and rookie John Ridgeway to slot in behind Osa Odighizuwa, Neville Gallimore and Quinton Bohanna on the interior of the DL.
Dallas would go on to score on the drive, opening up a 19-point lead before halftime in a battle of the backups. After a bad showing last week against Denver, all phases are working well on Saturday night as Dallas goes into the locker room up 29-10.
