Overview:

There is a lot of youth to go around in the wide receiver room at Penn State, and Omari Evans is one of them.

With Jahan Dotson likely leaving for the NFL, the receiver room will likely be led by Parker Washington, who had plenty of flashes this season and showed that he is capable of filling in for that lead role.

Evans also joins four-star receiver Kaden Saunders, as just a few of the players from Penn State’s impressive 2022 recruiting class.

Evans possesses some athletic traits that will help Penn State move the ball more in the passing game.

Being a former track and field star, Evans has the elite speed that will be crucial for Penn State, especially with his yards-after-catch ability.

He was a three-star recruit out of Texas who had a decent amount of Power Five offers before committing to play for James Franklin.

Evans also has a good amount of versatility. He played quarterback in high school and helped lead his team to the playoffs. He has shown plenty of mobility that has helped him transition and flourish into a receiver.

Watching his film, Evans has made several contested catches and can be a deep ball threat with his impressive hands.

Evans comes into a talented wide receiver room at Penn State. As mentioned, with Dotson leaving, it seems likely that Washington will step into a major role in the Nittany Lions receiving corps.

Evans has plenty of talent and athleticism to be a solid receiver at Penn State. His skills and versatility will be a key component to him having a successful college career in Happy Valley.
