While Draymond Green and Team USA opened their Olympic campaign with an upset loss to France, another member of the Golden State Warriors was able to secure a victory in Tokyo.
Following an impressive run in the qualifying circuit, Nico Mannion was on the floor for Italy in the group stage of the Olympics against Germany.
While Simon Fontecchio led the way for the Italians with a team-high 20 points, Mannion also registered a double-figure scoring effort on the way to Italy’s win over Germany, 92-82.
Mannion tallied 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the floor with seven assists in 23 minutes. The 20-year-old point guard a pair of triples on five attempts from beyond the arc.

Behind Fontecchio, Mannion, Danilo Gallinari and Stefano Tonut, Italy sits atop of the men’s basketball Olympic Group B that includes Germany, Australia and Nigeria.
For game two, Mannion and Italy will meet Australia on Wednesday at 1:20 a.m. PT.
