Olajuwon retired in 2002 as a two-time champion, two-time Defensive Player of the Year and a one-time MVP. He remains the NBA’s all-time leader in blocked shots (3,830), and he’s No. 12 on the all-time scoring list and No. 14 on the all-time rebounding list. He’s one of nine players in NBA history with at least 25,000 points and 13,000 rebounds, and he’s the only player in NBA history with more than 2,000 blocks and 2,000 steals. He finished his career with a stunning 2,162 steals, good for ninth all-time. Not only is Olajuwon the only center in the top 10, but also he’s the only center in the top 60 as Robinson is 61st with 1,388 career steals. Olajuwon had a timeless game. He was strong enough to physically dominate centers in the paint and he had enough skill to operate on the perimeter. At least one of his former teammates believes Olajuwon would’ve fit in just fine with today’s NBA, where many big men find themselves on the outside looking in.
