OL Darius Afalava puts Washington in top 4 ahead of official visit

The Washington Huskies are among the finalists for the coveted offensive lineman from Utah.

The Washington Huskies coaching staff is trying to put together a strong class along the offensive line as it continues to rebuild after losing all five starters from the 2023 season and holds two commits in the 2025 class: four-star Champ Taulealea and three-star Jake Flores.

Next on offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll’s list of targets appears to be three-star interior offensive lineman Darius Afalava, who released a list of his top 4 schools on Wednesday. The No. 4 player in Utah who plays at Skyridge High School included Washington along with Utah, Oklahoma, and Michigan State as the only places he’s still considering among the 24 offers he holds.

Carroll has made a lasting impression to help keep the Huskies in the running for Afalava’s services.

“Coach Carroll is one of the funnier coaches, but he also knows what to do when it comes down to work,” Afalava told Tyler Harden of TTJH Sports. “Coach [Jedd] Fisch always keeps in contact with me too.”

Of his four finalists, Washington is the only school Afalava has yet to visit and will be one of 15 expected attendees over the June 21 weekend and could come to a decision at any time.
