Oklahoma’s Umoja Gibson named NCAA Player of the Week

Oklahoma’s Umoja Gibson was named the NCAA Player of the Week after his 29-point outing against West Virginia on Saturday.

Fresh off of his huge performance in Oklahoma’s win over No. 9 West Virginia, Umoja Gibson has been named the player of the week by the NCAA.

Gibson had a monstrous performance off the bench for the Sooners in a game they sorely needed it. He finished the evening with a whopping 29 points on eight made three-pointers. He also contributed five rebounds and two assists as well in his 30 minutes of action.

In a game where Brady Manek struggled and Austin Reaves didn’t come around until late, Gibson’s offense was wildly important to Oklahoma managing to pull of the big home win over the Mountaineers.

Transferring over from North Texas, Gibson has continued to progress more and more as the season has gone on. He’ll look to keep his high level of play going when the Sooners head to Waco to face No. 2 Baylor on Wednesday night.
