Former Oklahoma and current Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young has experienced a meteoric rise to the top of the league.
From lighting opposng defenses on fire during his time in Norman to starting in the NBA All-Star Game in just his second season in the association. Now, Young has earned a shot at perhaps the highest honor for an athlete, the chance to represent his country at the Olympic Games.
The Associated Press reported on Saturday that Young, alongside a handful of other rising stars, has been added to the consideration pool for USA Basketball’s Tokyo Olympics squad.
In his still brief NBA career of just 156 games, Young has already totaled 3706 points, 1344 assists, 622 rebounds and 392 made three-pointers on 1140 attempts, good for a 34% clip. Young has easily separated himself as one of the league’s generational superstars, in the same category as players like Luka Doncic and Zion Williamson.
