The Oklahoma Sooners currently have the No. 10 rated recruiting class in the country and tops in the Big 12 Conference. Their top target and signee is Gonzaga quarterback Caleb Williams. He has been instrumental in being a recruiter for the team as well. Williams helped put together the Sooner Summit to bring even more talent to Norman. Now he can add a blog to his resume.
Williams is updating fans on his journey with SI’s All-American web site. In this edition, Williams details his workouts as he prepares to be ready for the 2021 college football season. He is expecting to be the primary backup to freshman All-American Spencer Rattler.
In the opening of his blog, the No. 1 quarterback recruit of the 2021 class gives an idea of what his workouts are like.
Starting it off, I’m back home from being in the lab for about a month, month and a half, however long I was back. It was tough, it was really tough, dealing with Coach Mark every day. Twice a day. Sometimes working out three times a day. It’s going to be, obviously, worth it. I feel really good now that I did it. Body feels good. My conditioning. Kinda fine-tuning the work of Coach Mark and Coach Baucia.
Been throwing a lot with Coach Baucia. Making sure my feet are right, arm slots, everything is kind of on point.
The big news that Williams wanted to share is that he will be dually enrolled at Oklahoma, as well as Gonzaga.
I want to give special thanks to Gonzaga for all they’ve done for me. The administration, for even allowing me to do this, because they’ve never done this — ever. I really appreciate Gonzaga for doing this, and obviously OU for also allowing me to do this. Also, the NCAA, for giving me clearance for dual-enrollment, to be a full-time student at both places and to be able to play right away at OU.
When the Sooners head to camp, we will finally get to see Williams on the field working with Riley and company. Whenever Rattler moves on to the NFL, he will get ample opportunity to be the next quarterback under Riley to chase the Heisman Memorial Trophy.
