The Goodyear Cotton Bowl is willing to postpone Oklahoma and Florida’s matchup, currently scheduled for December 30, should one or both teams fail to meet COVID-19-related protocols, per a report from ESPN’s Heather Dinich.
Both Oklahoma and Florida have elected to send their players home for Christmas, spurring some to question the feasibility of both teams being ready to play by December 30. The Sooners receive a break from practice to return home for the holidays from December 23 to 26, giving the team just four days to identify/isolate any known cases that develop over the break.
Whether or not the game is played, as with everything in 2020, remains up in the air, but the new report from Dinich and ESPN goes a long way to ensure that the game will be played in one form or another, whether it’s on the original date of December 30 or once both teams are ready and capable.
I'm told the @CFBPlayoff is willing to postpone its semifinals and national championship games, along with the Cotton, Fiesta and Peach bowls IF needed should one or both teams be unable to play b/c of COVID-19 issues. It's unclear right now if Orange will have same flexibility.
