Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley still doesn’t have all the answers for the upcoming season.

With an unprecedented season on the horizon, it is likely that several players and coaches throughout college football could miss games due to COVID-19.

Riley said on Thursday that he still hasn’t heard what the plan is should a coach test positive for COVID-19.

“Honestly, sadly, we are still waiting on that.” Riley said. “Nothing from the NCAA or from our conference on that. I couldn’t tell you. We’ve got contingencies in place for whatever they decide. I know there have been talks about do you allow a separate coaches’ box for anybody who has tested positive and still be able to coach. Past that, I can’t imagine anybody being able to be involved in game day operations.”

The 36-year-old head coach of the Sooners has been transparent regarding the virus and his team, and says they’re planning for it regardless.

“If it goes that way, we have a plan. If it goes to where myself or any other coach wasn’t there, we’ve got a plan for each and every one of them. Hopefully we’ll find out something here soon so we know which way to go. Hopefully we don’t have to have that conversation.”

Riley announced that redshirt freshman Spencer Rattler will be assuming the starting quarterback role for now, beating out Tanner Mordecai for the job.

Oklahoma opens it’s season with a nonconference matchup with Missouri State on Sept. 12. The game is set to kickoff at 6 p.m.
