Oklahoma State survives another Big 12 blunder in 16-7 win against Tulsa

The Big 12 didn’t need Saturday to become another mess for the conference, but Oklahoma State provided that opportunity.

Iowa State was handed a 31-14 loss by Louisiana in Week 1, Kansas State lost 35-31 to Arkansas State and Kansas’ lost for the second-straight year to Coastal Carolina. The Big 12 is one of two power-five conferences playing non-conference opponents, but the only one having a tough time.

Oklahoma State trailed Tulsa 7-3 on Saturday for much of the game before pulling away to win 16-7. It was yet another tough performance for a conference vying for national relevancy.

Oklahoma already had a relatively easy to path to winning its sixth-straight Big 12 Championship. Both of its next opponents lost in Week 1 and its in-state rivalry game looks to be up in the air for Oklahoma State if Spencer Sanders is hurt for a long period of time.

Texas took care of business against UTEP 59-3 and looks like it will be the Sooners stiffest competition again behind Sam Ehlinger.

Oklahoma will begin Big 12 play next Saturday against Kansas State at home at 11 a.m. CT.
