Oklahoma 33, Iowa State 24
The Oklahoma Sooners have a lot to prove. Not just to the national observers but to themselves. After a 9-0 start to the season, the Sooners laid an egg in Waco. About the only player that played a good game was Brian Asamoah, who was flying around and making plays. Oklahoma needs that energy and playmaking from everyone on both sides of the if their going to rebound and get their 10th win of the season this week.
Iowa State poses problems for the Oklahoma Sooners. They’ve been one of the best defenses in the country, who’ve had a couple let downs in recent weeks. Things haven’t gone as expected for the Cyclones in 2021, but a win over Oklahoma would leave everyone feeling better about the underwhelming 2021.
But this is Oklahoma’s week. To a man, they have a better effort and performance. That’s not to say it’ll be easy, Iowa State’s Breece Hall, Charlie Kolar, and Xavier Hutchinson will make plays in this game. However, the Sooners will have a better tackling game and limit the damage.
Look for a much better performance from Caleb Williams and the wide receiver group in the passing game. The running game will continue to struggle, but Kennedy Brooks and Eric Gray will break a run or two to give Lincoln Riley enough confidence to stay with the run throughout the game.
The defense picks up from its performance against the Bears and has another solid game. Not forced to stay on the field as much, the defense stays fresh and finishes this one strong.
