The Oklahoma Sooners struggled in their first SEC test of the season against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Oklahoma struggled with the Crimson Tide’s inside presence in the top 10 matchup and lost 107-79. It was the first time the Sooners had allowed more than 100 points in the Porter Moser era.
After their first loss of the season, the Sooners dropped six spots in the latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.
There is now just one undefeated team in the nation, the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers, who earned 21 of the possible 31 first-place votes. They’re followed by the Auburn Tigers, who have been the No. 2 team in the country for the last several weeks.
Alabama moved up one spot to No. 5 after their dominating performance over the Sooners. Also in the top 10 from the SEC are No. 7 Kentucky, No. 8 Florida, who also suffered their first loss of the season last week, and No. 9 Texas A&M, who took out Texas by 20 to open SEC play.
The Sooners will look to get back on track when they host the Aggies this Wednesday evening at the Lloyd Noble Center.
