The Oklahoma Sooners continue to lose significant pieces to their 2021 offense. It’s not surprising given the transition that the Sooners are facing at head coach. The uncertainty of the Sooners’ head coaching position will lead to de-commitments and players entering the portal.

Next potentially heading out the door is tight end Austin Stogner. He’s entered the portal, but that doesn’t mean he’s gone for sure.

Coming off of a devastating injury and subsequent infection from the injury, Stogner wasn’t as involved in the passing game as many thought he’d be in 2021. Usage and opportunities kept Stogner from making much of an impact this season as the Sooners failed to get him involved.

Stogner had just one reception in six of the nine games that he played in 2021. He had his season-high on Saturday against Oklahoma State with three receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown. He had a clutch, highlight-reel reception for a touchdown to help get the Sooners’ offense tied at 14.

With Jeremiah Hall and Brayden Willis expected to graduate and move on, the loss of Austin Stogner puts the Sooners in a difficult situation at tight end moving forward.
