Oklahoma Sooners move into top 10 of USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

The Oklahoma Sooners are one of seven SEC teams in the top 12 of the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Oklahoma Sooners remained undefeated on Sunday, moving to 13-0 with their 22-point win over Prairie View A&M. It’s the best start for OU Men’s Basketball since the 1987-1988 season.

Oklahoma is just one of four undefeated teams in the nation and one of three teams in the SEC that hasn’t registered a loss. After their win, the Sooners moved up one spot in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll to No. 10 in the nation.

At 12-0, Tennessee remains the No. 1 team in the nation, garnering 20 of the possible 31 first-place votes. Auburn earned 11 first-place votes and came in at No. 2 in the nation. Florida is also undefeated and comes in at No. 5 in the nation to give the SEC three teams in the top five and five in the top 10, with Alabama at No. 6.

The Sooners moved in front of the basketball blue blood, the Kentucky Wildcats, who sit at 10-2 on the season. Behind No. 11 Kentucky is No. 12 Texas A&M, giving the SEC seven of the nation’s top 12 teams.

The Sooners next take the floor on Saturday, January 4 in Tuscaloosa for what will be a top 10 clash to tip off SEC basketball action.
