Despite the fact that the Oklahoma Sooners men’s basketball team was knocked out of the NCAA tournament in the second round, there has been plenty of news for the team.
Following the abrupt exit in the second round of the tournament, head coach Lon Kruger retired from the game of basketball. Kruger spent the last decade leading the program after a failed three-year stint in the NBA. He led the Sooners to a Final Four appearance in the 2016 tournament that came off the heels of a Sweet 16 appearance. Since those campaigns, the Sooners failed to move past the round of 32.

Moving swiftly, Oklahoma and athletic director Joe Castiglione hired Porter Moser out of Loyola-Chicago to head up the program.

Moser led Loyola to a Final Four in 2018 and Sweet 16 this past season. He now gets to run a Power Five program with a lot of promise. He will have his work cut out for him putting together a team.
