Oklahoma hasn’t been releasing its COVID-19 testing data as regularly as it once did, but the Sooners did release its latest week of data.
The football team was clearly dealing with the ramifications of positive test results and contact tracing for much of the last three weeks. Oklahoma was missing 20 players from its depth chart and more from its entire roster for its first game.
The women’s soccer team had to postpone their first game of the season at home against Oklahoma State due to problems with COVID-19 on Sept. 11.
Here are Oklahoma’s testing results from the week of Sept. 13 through Sept. 19:
Total student-athlete tests: 583
Total staff tests: 177
Total positive test results: 8
Active cases among student-athletes: 20
Recoveries among student-athletes: 143
Active cases among staff: 3
Recoveries among staff: 7
According to the press release, “The positivity rate for student-athlete tests over the past three weeks has gone from 9% to 4% to, this last week, 1%.”
Oklahoma football is scheduled to welcome in Kansas State on Saturday for the Big 12 opener. It is unclear how much the Sooners have been effected by COVID-19 for this one as Lincoln Riley nor Oklahoma have commented on how many players are actually back from missing the Missouri State game.
The Sooners and Kansas State are scheduled to kickoff at 11 a.m. CT from Norman, Oklahoma.
