A recent study done by the Wall Street Journal shows how much college football teams would be worth if they could be bought. Oklahoma landed at No. 7 on the list for $885.5 million.
Oklahoma’s transition from Bob Stoops to Lincoln Riley was seamless. Three playoff appearances in four years, two back-to-back from Riley have led to sizable increases for the Sooners. In 2018 they had $126.4 million in revenue, second only to Texas in the Big 12 conference.
Back-to-back Heisman winners and transfer quarterback Jalen Hurts finishing second only to Joe Burrow for the award certainly didn’t hurt the Sooners exposure any either. Few schools can boast more recent accomplishments.
Texas ($1.1B) landed themselves at the top of the list with $163.9 million in 2018. Tom Herman is heading into his third year with the program, and the brand looks to be flourishing more than ever. Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame and Georgia follow.
