Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield bounces back, Cleveland Browns beat Cincinnati Bengals

There was no one that may have needed a bigger week in football than former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield.

There was no one that may have needed a bigger week in football than former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield struggled in 2019 after a scorching start his rookie season. The 2017 Heisman Trophy winner had 22 passing touchdowns to 21 interceptions. To start 2020, Mayfield went only 21-of-39 for 189 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception in an embarrassing 38-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

But on Thursday night, the former Sooners was cool, calm and confident in leading Cleveland to a 35-30 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Mayfield went 16-of-23 for 219 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Former Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon had 46 rushing yards on 16 carries and 40 receiving yards on four receptions. Former defensive lineman Amani Bledsoe played a lot, but only had two tackles and 0.5 tackle for loss.

Samaje Perine and Austin Seibert did not play and Jordan Evans recorded one tackle as well.

The Sooners have over 30 players on active NFL rosters for the 2020 season. Here is how 15 of those players who got meaningful snaps in week one performed.
