Oklahoma named ‘QBU’ by ESPN, listed under other positions

ESPN has released an updated “Position U 2.0,” and OU fans will be happy to see the Sooners back atop the list for “QBU.”

Last July, ESPN published “Position U” a thorough ranking of which schools produce the most talent at each position. Oklahoma came in at No. 2 for quarterbacks, spurting a fair amount of backlash from Sooner nation.

Now, a full year later, ESPN has released an updated “Position U 2.0,” and OU fans will be happy to see the Sooners back atop the list for “QBU.”

“When we first created Position U a year ago, [OU’s] numbers didn’t quite add up to a résumé that could topple USC atop our QBU rankings. Now? There’s no doubt who’s at the top.”

According to Riley, the Sooners receiving recognition as QBU has a bigger effect than one might realize.

“The QBU legacy has a broad impact, Riley said, from the school to the recruiting trail to the larger community. So it’s no wonder that schools like Oklahoma are eager to assume the mantle and promote the label”

OU was also ranked No. 5 for running backs, No. 2 for wide receivers, No. 6 for tight ends, No. 3 for offensive linemen and No. 6 for linebackers.

Oklahoma was the only school to crack the top ten in every offensive position group.
