Oklahoma lands QB transfer Micah Bowens from Penn State

After picking up Wanya Morris from Tennessee on Monday, OU adds former three-star quarterback Micah Bowens from Penn State on Tuesday.

Oklahoma is now two-for-two on the transfer portal path the past two days. After picking up former five-star offensive tackle Wanya Morris from Tennessee on Monday, the Sooners add former three-star quarterback Micah Bowens II from Penn State on Tuesday.

Bowens fills a much-needed depth role at the quarterback position with the departures of both Chandler Morris and Tanner Mordecai following the conclusion of 2020.

Even with the addition of Caleb Williams out of high school, the Sooners were looking at only two scholarship quarterbacks for 2021. Bowens’ commitment brings that total to three, and ensures that the Sooners have a legitimate backup ready just in case.

Bowens appeared in zero games during his true freshman season at Penn State, but still spent meaningful time working under head coach James Franklin. Even with no in-game experience in college, Bowens still has significantly more experience at this level than Williams, who will be a true freshman.
