The wait is finally over.
The de-commitment of then-No. 1 quarterback Brock Vandagriff days after Oklahoma’s loss to LSU in the College Football Playoff hit fans right in the heart. Waiting around was now No. 1 quarterback Caleb Williams.
He had visited the Sooners on multiple occasions, with the first coming after Vandagriff had committed originally in the summer of 2019. The constant communication, despite the commitment of Vandagriff, from Oklahoma and Lincoln Riley has paid off in the end.
The Sooners have landed the No. 1 overall quarterback in the 2021 recruiting class in Williams.

A Washington D.C. native, Williams is considered the No. 3 overall recruit in the country by Rivals. He has been rated as the No. 1 quarterback in the country for awhile and is the No. 1 player in Washington D.C..
Williams was named the Elite 11 Finals MVP on Wednesday.
He joins presumed 2020 starting quarterback Spencer Rattler as No. 1 overall quarterbacks and Elite 11 Finals MVPs to commit to Riley and Oklahoma. The two will be on campus together in the 2021 season.
No school has ever landed two No. 1 overall quarterbacks in three recruiting classes in the Rivals’ rankings era.
Oklahoma’s 2021 recruiting classes now has 11 commitments and was ranked in the low 30s prior to Williams and Latrell McCutchin’s commitments on July 4.
