Baker Mayfield superfans can now bow down and worship at the knee of their quarterbacking hero. Mayfield is getting a statue of honor at Oklahoma University for his incredible performance as the QB of the Sooners.
Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley announced the statue to the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner will be unveiled at the Sooners spring game in April. Jake Trotter of ESPN notes the Sooners have a statue of all their Heisman Trophy-winning alums at the stadium.
Mayfield threw for over 12,000 yards and 119 TDs in his three years (2015-2017) as Oklahoma’s starting QB. He won the Heisman, among many honors, after his senior season, which helped catapult Mayfield to being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.
