Oklahoma has 6 players make Pro Football Focus’ top-101 players from 2020 season

The Oklahoma Sooners once again finished on top of the Big 12 mountain in 2020. PFF ranked six of their players in their top 101 in 2020.

Many fans and media alike knew there were going to be growing pains when it came to the Oklahoma Sooners football team in 2020.

For the first time since Lincoln Riley took over as the head coach for the now Hall of Fame coach Bob Stoops, there would be a freshman starting at quarterback. After sitting behind Jalen Hurts for the 2019 season, the No. 1 quarterback prospect got his opportunity to be the starter. He threw just 11 passes in 2019 and won the quarterback competition against Tanner Mordecai.

In the second game of the season, we saw some of the growing pains as the Sooners blew a three-touchdown lead against Kansas State and lost the following game to Iowa State. Following a brief benching against the Texas Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry, the growth of Rattler began and he didn’t look back.

The Sooners would go on a streak that culminated in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl where Oklahoma blasted the Florida Gators, 55-20. Rattler was just one of the catalysts for this team. They received a boost when Ronnie Perkins returned from suspension and the defense improved drastically with his presence.

The Sooners were able to overcome some early season road bumps and take home their sixth-straight Big 12 Championship. There were plenty of players who had their hand in the 2020 campaign. Pro Football Focus highlighted six of them in the top 101 players of the 2020 season.

Here is how they were ranked.
