Oklahoma gains commitment from 2021 4-star CB Latrell McCutchin

The fireworks have begun for Oklahoma football.

July 4 has been hinted at a big day for the Sooners on the recruiting trail for weeks now, and the first domino has fallen.

While on a visit to Norman, Oklahoma, earlier this year, four-star cornerback Latrell McCutchin de-committed from Alabama. The Sooners had reportedly made a big move then, and that thought has come to fruition.

McCutchin became the 10th commitment of Oklahoma’s 2021 recruiting class moments ago.

The Austin, Texas, native chose Oklahoma over Alabama and offers from SEC powers Georgia, LSU, Florida, as well as Ohio State.

McCutchin is rated as the 66th best prospect in the country according to Rivals. He is listed as the sixth best cornerback in the country and the eighth best player in the state of Texas.

This is the second-straight year Oklahoma has landed a four-star defensive back from the state of Texas as defensive coordinator Alex Grinch nabbed four-stars Joshua Eaton and Bryson Washington.

The Sooners 2021 recruiting class was ranked in the low 30s before McCtuchin’s commitment. Oklahoma only has one other defensive back committed in in-state safety Jordan Mukes.

The long-awaiting commitment announcement of Caleb Williams may boost Oklahoma’s ranking even more. He is set to announce his commitment at 8 p.m. CT.
