Oklahoma experiences drop in US LBM Coaches Poll ahead of Auburn game

Auburn hopes to catch Oklahoma on a downward trend when the Sooners visit the Plains this weekend.

Following a tough 24-14 loss to Arkansas on Saturday, Auburn is out of US LBM Coaches Poll consideration for the third straight week.

However, the Tigers can regain respect in the poll with a win over the Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday afternoon at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Oklahoma remains in the top-25 of this week’s coaches poll after dropping its first game as a member of the SEC to Tennessee, 25-15. The Volunteers outgained the Sooners, 345-222, with the widest discrepancy being in the run game with Tennessee rushing for 151 yards compared to Oklahoma’s 36 yards. The loss dropped the Sooners from No. 13 to No. 18 ahead of this week’s game at Auburn.

In all, nine SEC teams are in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll with the top five being dominated by teams from the conference. Georgia remains at No. 1 ahead of its showdown with No. 4 Alabama this Saturday in Tuscaloosa. Texas is No. 2 after dismantling ULM in Austin, and Ole Miss claims the No. 5 spot ahead of its SEC opener with Kentucky.

Tennessee jumps to No. 6 after taking down Oklahoma and Missouri is paying for its overtime win over Vanderbilt by dropping three spots to No. 11. LSU is back on the rise by jumping to No. 13 after beating UCLA in Death Valley and Texas A&M remains at No. 24 ahead of this weekend’s game in Arlington with Arkansas.
