Oklahoma basketball will be hosting UTSA in a non conference matchup for the 2020-21 season

Oklahoma basketball will be hosting UTSA in a non conference matchup for the 2020-21 season, according to a report from Jon Rothstein.

The game has been set for November 15.

Oklahoma has one tie to UTSA in the form of Steve Henson, who coached at Oklahoma under head coach Lon Kruger from 2011-2016. He joined the Roadrunners four seasons ago, and has led them to a 64-68 record in his time there.

Last season, the Sooners were on the bubble for a majority of the homestretch towards the 2019-20 NCAA tournament, which was eventually cancelled due to coronavirus. Kristian Doolittle was Oklahoma’s lone senior on the squad.

Kruger will be entering his tenth year with the Sooners. He’s helped Oklahoma to seven tournament appearances in his nine years, counting the canceled 2019 tournament, which the Sooners had clinched. Kruger best year with Oklahoma was the 2015-16 season, when the Buddy Hield led Sooners made the Final Four, but eventually lost to Villanova.
