Oklahoma at Texas Tech: Three things to know
- Despite missing leading scorer Austin Reaves and fellow senior G Alondes Williams, Oklahoma upset No. 8 Alabama as a 3.5-point home underdog 66-61 Saturday. Reaves and Williams were unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols and will also be out for this Texas Tech tilt. Oklahoma trailed Alabama 60-59 with 3:24 to go before sophomore F Jalen Hill sank 4 free throws and junior G Elijah Harkless hit a jumper with 20 seconds left and a free throw with 13 seconds remaining to seal it.
- Texas Tech snapped a 2-game skid with a 76-71 comeback victory at LSU Saturday in their SEC/Big 12 challenge matchup. The Red Raiders trailed 71-64 with 1:14 remaining before scoring the final 12 points to pick up the win and cover as 3.5-point favorites. Junior G Mac McClung (22 points) hit back-to-back 3-pointers and sophomore G Terrence Shannon Jr. (23 points) hit a go-ahead layup at the 29-second mark and added 4 free throws in the final 16 seconds. McClung averages a team-best 17.5 PPG.
- Texas Tech won the season’s first meeting 69-67 in late December, handing Oklahoma its only home loss of the season. The Red Raiders led the entire second half but never by more than 7 points. The Sooners trailed by 2 points several times in the final 20 minutes with a chance to tie or win at the buzzer. The rivals split their two games the previous season with the home team prevailing each time.

Oklahoma at Texas Tech: Odds, lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Texas Tech 72, Oklahoma 63
Money line (ML)
I have Texas Tech winning, but the -300 price is too chalky. PASS.
Against the spread (ATS)
TEXAS TECH -6.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. All the hype is on Oklahoma. The Sooners own a 5-game win streak, including three in a row vs. top-10 teams: At home vs. then-No. 9 Kansas Jan. 23, at No. 5 Texas 80-79 Tuesday and Alabama Saturday.
The Sooners beat the Crimson Tide without Reaves but they were at home. Look for an Oklahoma letdown here despite being the much better ATS team this season.
ATS: Oklahoma 10-5 | Texas Tech 7-10
Over/Under (O/U)
Back the UNDER 138.5 (-110). The Under has cashed in the last five in this series. The Red Raiders are really good defensively. They allow only 62.2 PPG to rank 21st in the country, and they’re 13th in adjusted defensive efficiency, according to Kenpom.com.
Plus, the Sooners will be without Reaves’ team-best 15.8 PPG.
O/U records: Oklahoma 6-9 | Texas Tech 8-9
