Sooners Wire will be creating player cards for readers to be introduced to the 2020 roster. Here is the No. 41 for Oklahoma.

There is a ton of momentum to having a 2020 college football season these days. No definite signs, yet, but the season would start less than 100 days from now.

Sooners Wire will be creating player cards for readers to be introduced to the 2020 roster.

Here is the No. 41 for Oklahoma.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Name: Jake McCoy

Number: No. 41

Year: Redshirt freshman

Position: Linebacker

Hometown: Edmond, Oklahoma

Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 216 pounds

Jack McCoy is among many of the walk-on program at Oklahoma.

A product of Edmond North High School, McCoy blew up on the Oklahoma high school scene his senior season. As a sophomore and junior, he didn’t make his presence known, but as a senior, McCoy registered 135 tackles and two sacks playing at the highest level of football in the state.

The Sooners have a history of walk-ons needing to play meaningful snaps at the linebacker position. Caleb Gastelum did as such in 2014 and Brian Mead has, too, in 2018 and ’19.

McCoy has yet to play a snap for Oklahoma.
