There is a ton of momentum to having a 2020 college football season these days. No definite signs, yet, but the season would start less than 100 days from now.
Sooners Wire will be creating player cards for readers to be introduced to the 2020 roster.
Here is the No. 17 for the Sooners.
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Name: Marvin Mims
Number: No. 17
Year: Freshman
Position: Wide receiver
Hometown: Frisco, Texas
Height/Weight: 5-foot-11, 168 pounds
Freshman wide receiver Marvin Mims could get his chance much sooner than expected.
With the offseason injury bug hitting Oklahoma’s playmaking core, and sophomore receiver Trejan Bridges sitting out an unknown amount of games due to a 2019 suspension, Mims could be in a starting role in Oklahoma’s first game as a true freshman next season.
A four-star out of Frisco Lone Star high school, Mims helped lead his team to a 14-1 record and the Texas 5A-1 semifinals, all while breaking the Texas state and national receiving yards record for a single season.
Mims could have big play ability out of the gate for the Sooners, something Lincoln Riley has relied on heavily in his tenure with Oklahoma. Mims will be vying for the H-receiver role with Drake Stoops and Trejan Bridges when he returns from suspension.
