There is a ton of momentum to having a 2020 college football season these days. No definite signs, yet, but the season would start less than 100 days from now.
Sooners Wire will be creating player cards for readers to be introduced to the 2020 roster.
Here is the No. 12 for Oklahoma.
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Name: Drake Stoops
Number: No. 12
Year: Redshirt sophomore
Position: Wide receiver
Hometown: Norman, Oklahoma
Height/Weight: 5-foot-9, 181 pounds
Despite with an offer to his dad’s alma mater Iowa and one to Memphis, Drake Stoops stayed around where he grew up and the university that raised him.
Son of former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, Drake Stoops came to the Sooners as a preferred walk-on out of the 2018 recruiting class. He caught 201 passes for 3,390 yards and 39 touchdowns in his high school career, including a monster junior season with 86 catches for 1,536 yards and 20 total touchdowns while leading Norman North to a 6A State Championship game appearance.
Stoops played in two games before redshirting in the 2018 season. He appeared in all 14 games in the 2019 season and caught eight passes for 95 yards.
The redshirt sophomore is expected to walk into a bigger role in part to an injury to Jadon Haselwood and suspension for the first five games for Trejan Bridges.
