The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Thursday that rookie forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl sustained a right foot third metatarsal fracture. He will be re-evaluated in approximately six weeks. Robinson-Earl was a late scratch for Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks with a sprained foot.
Six weeks from now is March 17, which means Robinson-Earl will miss at least 19 games dealing with this injury. By that time, they’ll only be 13 games left in the season as it ends on April 10. I doubt the Thunder will rush him back either as it would be an unnecessary risk to play Robinson-Earl on a recently healed fracture foot. Would not be shocked if Robinson-Earl’s rookie season is over with. Which is a shame; he’s been playing well for a second-round pick and it’s unfortunate he’s going to miss so much time his rookie season to develop and gain experience.
In 44 games, the 21-year-old has averaged 7.1 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 33.3 percent from three.
