During the spring transfer window, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies coaching staff had a lot of work to do in rebuilding the offensive line. One of the players Fisch and offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll turned to in the portal is former Ohio State Buckeyes guard Enokk Vimahi, who has added a steadying veteran presence to the starting group this fall.
While working at right guard, Vimahi has improved from his time with the Buckeyes, where he played in 35 games through his five seasons, making just two starts. Even though he struggled for most of his career in Columbus, Carroll gave the senior a glowing review ahead of his debut in purple and gold.
“He’s been fantastic, he’s a heck of a ballplayer,” Carroll said. “I think we’re lucky to have him. He’s been a fantastic addition to the room and a great teammate. He’s got an infectious attitude, and the guys want to play with him, next to him, and be around him. He’s a great kid and is going to be a really talented player for us.”
Between right tackle Drew Azzopardi and center D’Angalo Titialii, if Carroll can help Vimahi achieve his full potential, as he was ranked as a four-star prospect and top 120 recruit in the nation coming out of high school, he could be an exciting addition to Washington’s offensive line when it drops back to pass protect.
His previous experience in the Big Ten should bode well for him as a run blocker, and if Carroll can get Vimahi integrated into Fisch’s scheme quickly, he could be an important piece of Washington’s front.
