After a week off, the Ohio State softball team is back at it this weekend and started things off the right way with a 3-0 win over Oregon State in the Arizona State Invitational.

It didn’t take long for the Buckeyes to open the scoring. After holding the Beavers to no runs in the top of the 1st inning, Andi Farrah connected on a homer to right field to put OSU up 1-0. Ohio State tacked on another run in the bottom of the 5th inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by Nicki Carver to make it 2-0. OSU would then add one more run when pinch-hitter Emily Tinkham hit an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the 6th to complete the scoring.

Meanwhile, starting pitcher Payton Buresch was dealing in the circle, holding the pinning the Beavers down all day thanks to amazing command in the circle that saw her get ahead in the count often — throwing 55 of her 72 pitches for strikes. She finished the day giving up just three hits on seven innings and improved her record to 6-3 on the year.

With the win, the Buckeyes run their winning streak to three games and improved their overall record to 7-7. They will be in action again on Saturday against Wright State.
