The 2nd-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) meet the 3rd-ranked Oregon Ducks (5-0, 2-0) Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. Kickoff in the Big Ten game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Ohio State vs. Oregon odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Buckeyes have made headlines for their sharp play on offense, particularly that of true freshman WR Jeremiah Smith. He leads the team with 453 yards and 6 TDs through 5 games, although WR Emeka Egbuka is right there with a team-high 30 grabs with 433 yards and 6 TDs.

QB Will Howard hasn’t been the only impact player via the transfer portal. He has completed 71.5% of his pass attempts for 1,248 yards, 12 TDs and 3 INTs.

RB Quinshon Judkins, who came in from Ole Miss, has rolled up a team-best 468 rushing yards with 7.8 yards per attempts and 5 TDs. RB TreVeyon Henderson is right there with 337 yards with 8.0 yards per attempt, while scoring 4 TDs. Howard has also rushed for 4 scores.

Oregon has scored 31 or more points in all 4 games against FBS opponents, but the Ducks are just 1-3 against the spread (ATS). The Under has cashed in the past 2 games, and Oregon has allowed 14 or fewer points in 4 of 5 outings, sans for the 37-34 win over Boise State Sept. 7 when it could not stop Heisman candidate RB Ashton Jeanty.

The Buckeyes have covered the past 2 games, both inside conference, while averaging 36.5 PPG in wins over the Michigan State Spartans and Iowa Hawkeyes, while allowing 7 points in each game.

Ohio State at Oregon picks and predictions

Prediction

Ohio State 34, Oregon 27

Moneyline

OHIO STATE (-155) isn’t a terrible option as a moderate favorite in a game which could be very tight out on the West Coast.

Oregon (+130) won the most recent meeting Sept. 11, 2021, in Columbus, so Ohio State will have revenge on its mind, even if a majority of current players weren’t even around then.

The Buckeyes are 3-1 ATS in the past 4 games, and the defense is allowing just 6.8 PPG and 202 total yards per game, both the top marks in the nation. That will be put to the test against QB Dillon Gabriel and the Ducks offense.

Against the spread

OHIO STATE -3.5 (+100) is tough to pass up. It is likely to get the job done, and don’t be scared off to take the road favorites despite the unfriendly 3 and a hook.

This will be a close game for a while, but Oregon +3.5 (-120) can’t be trusted. In the past 6 games as an underdog, the Ducks are just 1-5 ATS.

Over/Under

OVER 53.5 (-110) might be the strongest play on the board.

The Under has cashed in each of Ohio State’s 2 conference games, but no one is confusing Iowa or Michigan State for Oregon. The Ducks have a much, much more polished and powerful offense than those 2 teams combined.

Oregon has also cashed low in 2 conference tilts to date, but again, it faced Sparty and UCLA. Look for a result similar to the Boise State game, which was an end-to-end shootout.
