Offensive keys vs Tulane for the Oklahoma Sooners

Offensive keys to the game for the Oklahoma Sooners in their week one matchup with the Tulane Green Wave.

Keep the Running Backs healthy

This is less of a key and more of a hope,  but it holds true all the same. We’ve documented how low things are at running back for Oklahoma. They have just two scholarship running backs. The depth chart has two walk ons listed in contention for the third string role. OU should be able to come out and put this game out of reach early.

My guess: They won’t run the ball too much with the likes of Tennessee transfer Eric Gray and the returning Kennedy Brooks in an attempt to try and preserve them as much as possible for bigger and more challenging opponents.

That should clear the way for Todd Hudson and Jaden Knowles. Two walk ons who had nice showings in the spring game. They will likely take the bulk of the carries in the 2nd half.

OU should come out and put the foot on the gas early and allow for second and third stringers to get some valuable experience in what likely becomes a blowout. Check back next week as we preview offensive keys against their next opponent, Western Carolina University.
