Marvin Mims is excellent. A season’s worth of highlights has cemented his role and value to this team. After him, what’s next? This is isn’t a CeeDee Lamb and Marquise Brown situation where OU has two bonafide star receivers and the rest of the guys fill in and make situational catches. There’s plenty of talent there in a former five-star like Jadon Haselwood, electric freshman Mario Williams, Arkansas transfer Mike Woods, the steady and reliable slot machine in Drake Stoops and young talented freshman like Cody Jackson and Jalil Farooq.

The Sooners will not have Theo Wease (lower body injury) for this week but he also figures to get in the mix. Spencer Rattler needs to spread the ball around and find out who’s ready to consistently make plays in the passing game and block as if their lives depended on it in the running game.

Heading into Big 12 play, basically a month from now, with no rhyme or idea of a consistent second or third option at receiver is gonna make it that much harder to win the conference again.
